「時を超えるアーチ」

2025年に万博を迎える大阪にふさわしいトイレの設計案。
多くの来訪者を受け入れる大阪のシンボル、戎橋の周辺の風景はどうあるべきか。
そのちょうど100年前に竣工した先代の戎橋は第二次世界大戦やその後の復興の時代、高度経済成長期など、激動の時代の道頓堀を見守り続けた。その橋を彩った尖塔アーチ型のデザインを取り入れ、アーチのように次の時代へと繋がって愛され続けていくトイレを提案する。アーチ型の開口が通気と採光をもたらし、高さのある内部空間が解放感、アーチ型の大きな入口が入るときの安心感を生み出す。一定のプライバシーを担保しつつ、ゆとりと広がりを感じる新しいトイレ空間を作る。

Design proposal for a toilet suitable for Osaka, which will host the World Expo in 2025.

What should the landscape around Ebisu Bridge, the symbol of Osaka that welcomes so many people, look like?

The previous Ebisu Bridge, completed exactly 100 years ago, has watched over Dotonbori through turbulent times, including the Second World War, the subsequent reconstruction period and the period of rapid economic growth. We adopted the spire/arch design that adorned that bridge and aimed for a toilet that, like the arch, will be loved and connected to the next era. The arched openings provide ventilation and lighting, the high interior space gives a sense of openness, and the large arched entrance gives a sense of security when entering... This is a new toilet space that guarantees a certain degree of privacy, while at the same time giving a sense of openness and spaciousness.
