「廃墟的空間に住まう」

リノベーションだからこそ可能となる空間について考えたい。

成熟社会となった日本は、既存のストックを有効活用していくことの重要性が認識され始めている。使われなくなった京町家もその例外ではなく、それらの建物を有効活用することで新たな価値を生み出すことが期待されている。しかし、安易に修復するだけではかえって退廃的な魅力を持つ空間の本質を失わせてしまうことが危惧される。

本提案では廃墟が持つ価値を継承・活用していく為、京都市内に現存する町家遺構の改修設計を通してリノベーションによる空間の概念を再考した。

I wanna think about spaces that are possible only through renovation.

As Japan has become a mature society, the importance of utilizing existing stock is beginning to be recognized.

Disused Machiya (traditional townhouses found mainly in Kyoto) is one such example, and there are high hopes for their utilization.

However, there is concern that simply restoring them will result in the loss of the value of these decadent spaces.

Therefore, through the renovation design of existing Machiya ruins in Kyoto, we are reconsidering how the space can be renovated to inherit and utilize the value of the ruins.
